For this week I've chosen, Emmy's Equal (Texas Fortunes, Book 3) by Marcia Gruver

Get ready for a suspenseful romantic adventure deep in the heart of Texas. Emmy Dane doesn’t want to give up her petticoats and frills for boots and spurs when her family decides to take up ranching in South Texas. Diego Marcelo’s mother tells him God will soon deliver him from his loneliness—but he assures her he has no need of deliverance . . .that is, until Emmy disrupts the entire way of life at the ranch. Can Diego put his jealousy aside before time runs out? And will Emmy admit she’s found her match in the stubborn foreman?

Strong-willed Emmy Dane didn’t want to journey to South Texas, and she vows to hate every minute of it. But when Emmy insists on going with ranch foreman Diego Marcelo to search for her missing family, she will find she’s met her match in the stubborn vaquero.

If you haven't had a chance to read the first 2 books in this series, here they are:

Diamond Duo
, Book 1

Chasing Charity, Book 2

  1. I want to read this book too! I've read the second book but I haven't gotten to book 1 (yeah I know I read out of order) but I hope to finish it soon...if I don't get distracted! :-P

  2. I have book 2 in this series, but haven't been able to get my hands on book one yet. Have you read the first two? What did you think about them?

  3. Tsk, tsk, Renee! Didn't your Momma teach you better? JK!

IMO, for this series, it's really not that important to read the first 2 books in order. Chasing Charity (#2) happens waaaaaaay after Diamond Duo (#1)...it sounds like Emmy's Equal (#3) is going to continue on from Chasing Charity (#2) though.

    Don't get distracted!! LOL

  4. Hi Christy,

Yes, I have read books 1 & 2. They were totally different, but I enjoyed them both.

*see my comment responding to Renee* for more details... :)

  5. I am so bad about reading books like that. I was once asked to review book 3 of a series - so I bought books 1 & 2 just so I would do a better job on the review and understand the characters and writer better (plus it was a good excuse to buy the books). lol

It doesn't always work, and sometimes I do read them out of order... I try to avoid it though.

I'm curious, why did you pass on "A Constant Heart" to your sister? Now I need to head over to your new site. :o)

  6. Hi Lee,

LOL I know I would have to buy them, too ~ I don't think I've ever read a "series" book out of order...not intentionally anyway!! I have tons of them sitting around, just waiting to be read, because I can't seem to get/find the first book. :D I know, y'all probably think I'm crazy!!!

To satisfy your curiosity *grin*...Whitney has all of Siri's books, and I got it for her. I will read it eventually, she just reads a lot faster than I do, so I passed it on for now. :)

  7. Lori,

Make sure you get A Constant Heart back to read it. It was different from what I'm used to reading, and I'll tell you that there's not a lot of romance--it's really a pure historical. In spite of that, I loved it. I really want to read her newest one, Love's Pursuit, after reading the other one. :o)

  8. Hey Christy!

Yes, I will definitely be getting it back to read. I really like Siri's books. :)

If it's "pure historical" Renee would absolutely love it! That's her fave! I haven't read Love's Pursuit either ~ they don't go together do they?

  9. Lori,

I think both of Siri's historicals are stand-alone novels.

  11. I actully read A Constant Heart but didn't care for it very much! I know right? Me not like a historical??!! Here's why it wasn't my favorite, I was confused by the switching back and forth between characters, I'd be a few sentences in before I realized I was reading about the other character. It was a good story but the switching between characters confused me a bit. LOL I need things to be easy to understand!

  12. Even though I like Siri's books, I don't think I would enjoy this one. It sounds really boring to me. I don't mean to be harsh, just honest. :)
