My Favorite Cover

This week I've chosen:

She Walks in Beauty by Siri Mitchell
(Release date: April 1, 2010)

From Amazon:

For a young society woman seeking a favorable marriage in the late 1890s, so much depends on her social season debut. Clara Carter has been given one goal: secure the affections of the city's most eligible bachelor. Debuting means plenty of work--there are corsets to be fitted, dances to master, manners to perfect. Her training soon pays off, however, as celebrity's spotlight turns Clara into a society-page darling. Yet Clara wonders if this is the life she really wants, especially when she learns her best friend has also set her sights on Franklin De Vries. When a man appears who seems to love her simply for who she is, and gossip backlash turns ugly, Clara realizes it's not just her heart at stake--the future of her family depends on how she plays the game.

Siri Mitchell, author of A Constant Heart and Love's Pursuit, has written six novels, two of which were named Christy finalists. A graduate from the University of Washington with a business degree, she has worked in many levels of government and lived on three continents. She and her family currently reside in the DC metro area.

Isn't this cover beautiful?!?! I don't usually enjoy books from this time-period, but in this case, just the cover alone makes me want to read it! I've enjoyed some of Siri's other books, so I'll be giving this one a try as well. :)

  1. Love this cover! I haven't read anything by Siri Mithcell but I want to! :D

  2. I know, isn't it awesome?!?!

You should really try her books. My fave (so far) is The Cubicle Next Door ~ I would consider it to be a romantic comedy. It would actually make a great movie!

  3. I wish I could get away with wearing a dress like the one on that cover! I love it!

    XOXO~ Renee

  4. Yes! I've always thought it would be fun to "dress-up" in fancy dresses like girls used to wear to dances. Only we have no where to wear them! LOL

  5. It is a really great cover. Sounds interesting as well! Thanks for sharing!

  6. i LOVE siri. her book The Cubicle Next Door was an all-time fav. and i love that she's doing these historicals! you're's a beautiful cover. :)

  7. Hi Jeannie ~ thank you for dropping by! :)

I loved The Cubicle Next Door! It was the first book of Siri's that I read and it's my fave. Who knows ~ I may end up liking She Walks in Beauty better?? LOL

  8. That is a gorgeous cover! I actually love historical fiction - so I lean this direction anyway. I've only read one of her books before, A Constant Heart. I liked it - and learned some things about that time period I didn't know before.

  9. Hey Lee!

I just got A Constant Heart from Renee (Steeler Girl's Blog) for my sister the week before last. I haven't read it yet...but hope to eventually! LOL I've heard great things about it, so I'm looking forward to reading it.
