And...here we go!

fridayfillin.gif

1. Wait! Wait, don't forget to kiss me good-night!
2. I can't wait to snuggle in my bed followed at once by blissful sleep.
3. The trouble is, there's just not enough time in a day to read and blog to my heart's content.
4. All of my blogger/PBS friends live so many miles away.
5. With a faint pop, I readjusted my sore/aching back.
6. The woods, at night, behind my house are shadowy and ominous.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to SLEEPING, tomorrow my plans include watching the UGA vs. GA Tech football game and Sunday, I want to put up my Christmas tree & decorations!

Can ya tell that I'm about dead on my feet (chair)?? DH and I got up around 2:00 a.m. to take advantage of the Black Friday deals (I only slept for about 1 hour). We decided to go to Columbus, GA, which is 30-35 miles south of LaGrange. We were at Sears at 3:50 a.m.! We got back home a little after 11:00 a.m. We both ended up napping, but not very long. I'm about to fall out of my chair...so I'm off to bed. No idea when I'll be up, but I plan to sleep as long as possible!! Y'all have a great weekend! :)

SHE’S CUTTING HIM LOOSE
When it comes to relationships, talk show host Grace Fisher won’t stand for cheating—especially not from her fiancĂ©, star hockey goalie Zack Hoolihan. Her weekly knitting group backs her up when she calls it off, but it doesn’t entirely ease the sting of betrayal. She won’t listen to Zack’s indignant explanations of innocence—she just wants to tie up loose ends and move on. Until he winds up injured, that is, and she finds herself playing nursemaid…

NOW HE’S THROWN FOR A LOOP
Zack doesn’t know how that woman got into his hotel room, but he does know losing Grace has put him so far off his game, he ended up with a busted knee and a broken heart. If things aren’t mended fast, he’ll miss the playoffs, miss his girl, and lose everything. But if Grace is willing to push him into physical therapy, maybe he can pull her back into his arms—before their truce unravels. This time, he’ll do everything it takes to knit their relationship back together…

My very FIRST Reading Challenge

I have been seeing Reading Challenges everywhere, but couldn't decide which one to choose as my very FIRST one to participate in. Well...I just found it while visiting MJ @ Creative Madness! Woo-Hoo!!

Here it is:

Challenge Requirements:

1- Challenge will start Friday, November 20 and will end Thursday, December 31.

2- You can read anywhere from 1 to 5 books for the challenge and, of course, if you're like me, you are more than welcome to surpass that number.

3- And now, here's the clincher... they must be holiday related books. That's right, the holiday doesn't really matter, but it would be more "jolly" if your choices were Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc.

4- The size of the book does not matter, nor does the genre. It is also okay for the book to overlap with other challenges. The only thing I ask is that they are not children's books. YA is okay. And so are re-reads. I for one tend to read the same books every Christmas - they are tradition.

5- To sign up - leave a link back to your challenge post (click link). There will also be a post for review links as well as one for challenge wrap-ups.

6- And.... there will be goodies. That's right, we'll call them presents. At the end of every week that the challenge is running I will choose one winner from the review links and I will allow them to pick a book of their choosing (of course, I will provide a list). Meaning the more books you read, review and link up, the more chances you have at winning a "present".

Here's a tentative list of books I hope to read
during the challenge:
(In no particular order ~ I may not read ALL of these,
but this is the list I will be choosing from)

Struckthrough = I've read

* The Christmas Dog by Melody Carlson (reviewing for Revell)
(my review)
* The Unfinished Gift by Dan Walsh (reviewing for Revell)
(my review)
* Santa, Honey by Kate Angell, Sandra Hill & Joy Nash (my review)
* Christmas Homecoming by Debby Mayne, Paige Winship Dooly,
Elizabeth Godard & Elizabeth Ludwig
* The Sound of Sleigh Bells by Cindy Woodsmall
* Wild West Christmas by Kathleen Y'Barbo, Lena Nelson
Dooley, Darlene Franklin & Vickie McDonough
(my review)
* One ImPerfect Christmas by Myra Johnson
* It Happened One Night by Lisa Dale (ARC version)
*A Cowboy Christmas by Janette Kenny

I'm so excited...I can't wait to get started! I've already noted the starting date on my calendar, so I won't forget (like that's possible!). If you enjoy reading Holiday-themed books, be sure to sign up to join in the fun. I hope to be reading your reviews soon! :)

My Review: Her Colorado Man by Cheryl St. John

Her Colorado Man
by Cheryl St. John

Release date: December 1, 2009

Harlequin Historical
Pages: 280
ISBN: 9780373295715

*I won this autographed copy over at Petticoats & Pistols*

From the back cover:

The Family She'd Always Wanted!

When eighteen-year-old Mariah found herself pregnant and unmarried in her small Colorado town, she disappeared. One year later, she returned with a baby - though minus the "husband" who had conveniently ventured off to Alaska's gold fields to seek his fortune...

But now, with handsome adventurer Wes Burrows turning up and claiming to be the husband she had invented, Mariah's lies become flesh and blood - and her wildest dreams a reality!

My thoughts:

Even though I've been collecting Cheryl's Harlequin Historical books, this is the first one I've taken the time to read. As soon as I opened the envelope and saw it, I knew I wasn't going to be able to just add it to my ever growing TBR piles. I read it in a matter of a few hours, and discovered that it was a great choice to introduce me to Cheryl's brand of writing. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Now I can't wait to read all of her other books I have waiting in my TBR piles.

This is a very poignant romance set in Ruby Creek, Colorado, in 1882. We meet the huge Spangler clan, owners of Spangler Brewery. Most of the family have jobs at Spangler Brewery, working together to produce the very best bottom-fermented lager possible. They are well on their way to becoming very popular all around the world.

Mariah is responsible for handling promotional events, and also overseeing production at Spangler Brewery. She is the first woman to ever have a principal position, as well as, a seat on the governing board; she loves her job. Ever since her grandfather, Louis, called her into his office to let her know that her "husband" was coming home, she has been worried sick about how this event is going to affect her son's life. There is a horrible secret behind John James' birth that she's not quite ready to share with the entire family!

Wesley (Wes) Burrows has always longed for a family to call his own. He missed growing up with siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins nearby. Prior to arriving in Ruby Creek, Wes had delivered mail in Alaska, worked on a whaling ship, and searched for gold in the Yukon. He now claims that he's ready to meet his "son", settle down, and become a family.

If you are a fan of historical romances, you definitely need to pick up your own copy of Her Colorado Man. I cannot express enough how much I enjoyed this book! It's difficult to write a review, without giving away any of the key parts...I hope I have successfully managed to spark your interest. :)

My Favorite Cover

This week, my choice is:

A Tailor-Made Bride
by Karen Witemeyer

Release date:
June 1, 2010

Bethany House Publishers
Pages: 352
ISBN: 9780764207556

Christian Fiction/Historical
/Romance

(from PBS):

Book Description:
Jericho "J.T." Tucker wants nothing to do with Coventry, Texas's new dressmaker. He's all too familiar with her kind -- shallow women more devoted to fashion than true beauty. Yet, except for her well-tailored clothing, this seamstress is not at all what he expected.

Hannah Richards is confounded by the man who runs the livery. The unsmiling fellow riles her with his arrogant assumptions and gruff manner while at the same time stirring her heart with unexpected acts of kindness. Which side of Jericho Tucker reflects the real man?

When Hannah decides to help Jericho's sister catch a beau -- leading to uproarious consequences for the whole town -- will Jericho and Hannah find a way to bridge the gap between them?

Isn't this cover beautiful? Even though it would be nice to see their heads/faces! Karen Witemeyer is a new author for me, so I'm excited to give her book a try. It sounds like a great story! :)

Top 10 Books on My Wishlist

Woo-hoo!! It's Monday again...and that means that it's time to share
the Top 10 Books on My Wishlist for this week. If you didn't get a
chance to join us last week ~ here's how it works:

~ Look thru all of your wishlists (I'm sure you have more than one...just like me!)
~ Decide which 10 you're really wanting ~ at least for this week *grin*

~ Come back and post them in your comment...or better yet...create a post on your blog, linking back to me, and post your link here

~ You can list books from any genre
~ It doesn't matter if they are: already available for purchase, newly released, coming soon, etc.
~ If you have a book(s) on someone's WL that you're willing to get rid of...let them know... they may be willing to swap for something on your WL...I know I would!!

~ I've added a button in my sidebar, please take it with you, if you're inclined to do so
...

I'm hoping this meme will help everyone find books to add to their own Wishlist, but to also allow others to see what books you want, so maybe they can help you get them. Kinda like my own personal swap site...in a way... By getting book lovers together, and sharing the books we most want, maybe we can help each other out. I would love to know what books you're looking for, so I can try to help you find them.

My Top 10 picks for this week:

Within My Heart (Timber Ridge Reflections, #3) :: Tamera Alexander
Tempted By a Cowboy :: Vonna Harper, Melissa MacNeal
& Delilah Devlin
A Creed Country Christmas :: Linda Lael Miller
Under the Cajun Moon :: Mindy Starns Clark
